Each year, the Port Moody Art Association has two art shows. The Club?s Annual Art Show takes place in November and the Festival Art Show, which takes place in the Spring. Due to current economic circumstances our Spring show for 2009 has been suspended. (See next section for 2009 dates as they become available)

The Port Moody Art Association is proud to present its 42nd Annual Show and Sale of Original Paintings at the Port Moody Social Recreation Centre, 300 Ioco Road, Port Moody, B.C., Canada. You are cordially invited to attend the opening Friday, November 13th 2009 from 7:30 to 10pm. Framed original paintings by member artists will be showcased. Artists will be in attendance. The show continues on Saturday, November 14th 2009, from 10am to 5pm, and on Sunday, November 15th 2009, from 10am to 5pm offering additional unframed paintings. Admission is free. The Port Moody Art Association has continuing exhibits of members works on the East main floor hallway and the West 2nd floor hallway at the Eagle Ridge Hospital, 475 Guilford Way, Port Moody, B.C. (map).

Paintings are changed approximately every six months. Exchanges will be announced at meetings and by the phoning committee. Detailed information can be obtained from our outside hanging committee chairperson.

The Port Moody Art Association began in 1967 with a handful of artists. By the club’s second year, it had over 30 members. Today, the Association has a 100-member membership and a waiting list for membership. As there is currently more than a four-year waiting list for new membership registration, we are suspending acceptance of new registration submissions until at least 2010. Spring Show and New Registration Submissions

Due to economic circumstances, the membership voted to suspend the Spring Show for 2009.
A vote was also taken to suspend acceptance of new membership registration until at least 2010, as there is currently more than a four-year waiting list for new membership.

The Port Moody Art Association welcomes eleven new members: sam ARAB, wolfgang VON BABBEL, william BAIRD, pam BECKER, patrizia COLETTA, barbara DAY, debbie HALYK, diane HEMMINGER, mairy KEURVORST, don MCNULTY and nathania VISHNEVSKY.

Higher costs

Due to economic circumstances, the membership voted to increase show commission fees and yearly membership fees.

Artists can participate in the City of Port Moody’s Artists in the Park program for 2009 at Rocky Point Park. Please follow the link and click on the PDF attachment for an application form to participate. There is no cost for a permit and prints are allowed for sale.

This positions Port Moody as distinct and special in the Lower Mainland. It reflects Port Moody’s vibrant cultural community, its fabulous arts facilities and amazing natural setting – the perfect backdrop for creativity.

If you do not have a member’s site on the host site and are a member of the PMAA, you may also submit a jpeg image via email to the PMAA webmaster for inclusion in the Club gallery.
